On Thursday, October 17th at 3 pm, Melford Carter, In-State Investment Specialist for Credit Suisse, will discuss how the innovative OPERS/Credit Suisse Ohio-Midwest Fund is helping to catalyze Ohio’s economy by supporting emerging technologies at the Third Thursday at 3 program hosted at Youngstown Business Incubator.
To date, the Ohio-Midwest Fund has committed $72 million to 12 high-performing venture, growth, and buyout funds, who have in turn invested over $125 million in Ohio, positively impacting over 2,500 jobs. The Ohio-Midwest Fund is committed to investing in Ohio’s “clusters of innovation”: aerospace and defense, advanced electronics, information technology, biosciences, and advanced materials which are heavily represented in the Mahoning Valley.
The Ohio-Midwest Fund is a fund-of-funds that invests in high quality, private equity funds that focus, in whole or in part, on making investments in the Ohio and Midwest regions. Ohio PERS created this regional investment program in 2005 to generate superior returns for its members and encourage business growth within Ohio and the surrounding region.
The program is free but reservations are required at 330-259-7644 or jmsmith@ybi.org.
Third Thursdays at 3 is a networking and educational forum that brings together innovative and progressive people with a vision – to create and sustain an innovative and entrepreneurial environment in the Mahoning Valley. TH3 events are for local companies to showcase new technologies, for technology organizations to share their resources, for entrepreneurs build relationships, for educators to highlight their initiatives. Sponsored by the Youngstown Business Incubator, the forum provides a place for innovative talk, robust debates and inquiring minds.
