Energy Industries of Ohio to speak at Third Thursday at 3 pm series
On Thursday, September 18th at 3 pm, Lawrence Boyd, Director, Core Programs, Energy Industries of Ohio (EIO) will share insights and best practices at the Third Thursday at 3 program hosted at Youngstown Business Incubator.
EIO is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing, demonstrating and incubating technologies that improve the competitiveness of Ohio’s industries. EIO supports energy intensive industries such as steel, aluminum, metal casting and chemicals. The Mahoning Valley has a strong concentration in these sectors as well as other industries which can benefit from the resources of EIO. EIO recognizes the economic future of Ohio is closely tied to its industries’ abilities to utilize technology to increase productivity and manage energy consumption in a manner that is environmentally friendly. Any business interested in increasing energy efficiencies by reducing operating costs and benefiting the environment is encouraged to attend.
Mark Peters, General Manager of Fireline’s TCON division, states “Larry Boyd and EIO played a critical role in the development and commercialization of Fireline’s TCON ceramic-metallic composites. Through EIO, Fireline was able to work with researchers at Oak Ridge National Lab and the University of Missouri on projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy; their data showed that TCON materials are very effective in combating erosion and corrosion in molten aluminum processing applications, and this was instrumental in convincing industrial users to trial our products. Also, EIO has provided us with considerable assistance in additional grant proposals as well as obtaining a free U.S. DOE energy assessment of Fireline’s operations.”
