Want $50,000 and some free accounting software?

I thought so - who doesn’t?

Then check out this article over on Small Business Trends.

Intuit, the maker of the Quickbooks line of small business account software, has started an entrepreneurial contest at the website called iwilljuststart.com.  To enter the contest, you simply type in your idea for a new business.  The winner of the contest gets $50,000 for their startup.  A fascinating aspect of the website is the display of start-up ideas and stories of other entrepreneurs on the site.

As part of the launch of the Just Start campaign, Intuit has made its QuickBooks Simple Start accounting software completely free.  Simple Start is for first-time QuickBooks users and currently has over 300,000 users.  A stripped down version of Simple Start had been available for free before, but now Intuit is making the full QuickBooks Simple Start 2008 product 100% free (until last week you had to pay $99.95 for this version).  You can download it at the Just Start website.
